I was born in Melbourne and studied for a Bachelor of Business at QUT, graduating in 2007. A postgraduate Juris Doctor followed this at Bond University, completed in 2010. While studying, I was fortunate to secure a clerkship at a top-tier Australian commercial law firm, where I strengthened my passion for law.
In 2012 I was pleased to be admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Canada, later transferring my admission to Queensland in 2021.
Like many young graduates, I decided to gain work experience overseas. In my early years as a barrister and solicitor, I worked with a prominent boutique personal injury law firm in Toronto. I represented clients in civil litigation matters, including motor vehicle accidents, disability and life insurance, occupiers’ liability, and professional negligence claims. This experience gave me the foundation to be both client and resolution-focused. I gain great satisfaction from achieving the best possible results for my clients, particularly in their time of need.
In 2014 I accepted a role at a large North American insurer, where I was one of the founding members of an in-house staff counsel program for insurance defence litigation. I was pleased to have the opportunity to maintain independent carriage of a broad range of insurance litigation matters and worked closely with the claims department to achieve early resolution of cases.
I have acted on behalf of both the insurer and the claimant. After many years of providing advice and counsel to insurers, it became evident that my passion lies in the representation of everyday people. My experience in insurance and claimant advocacy gives me unique insights into the workings of litigation law.
